During December, we slowly rolled out our brand new storage cluster across all servers. This means we replaced all hard drives with new state-of-the-art and super-fast NVMe SSDs.
The benefits are noticeable and many.
Everything simply runs much, much faster. Even when you log into cPanel, you’ll notice that it loads faster. If you upload files via (S)FTP, you’ll also notice how much faster it is. Even git (which is supported on all accounts) is faster.
But it’s not just when you’re working that you notice it. Anything that requires storage on your site is now also faster. This means that images, stylesheets and scripts also load faster than before. Your visitors and Google will love it.
You don’t have to do anything at all to take advantage of the new faster storage. Everything has happened completely automatically.
If you’re a bit of a techie, you’ll be happy to know that latency now averages 0-1 milliseconds versus the previous 15-30ms at best.
