A domain name is easy to buy. The most common domain names cost just over 100 SEK/year. Special extensions a little more. We and many others in the industry also charge about the same for domains. If it’s very different, there’s a good chance someone is trying to rip you off.
From time to time targeted offers appear. You might get an email with someone trying to sell you a domain name, preferably for a bit more money than it needs to cost. Often it’s a special offer and a bit of a rush.
Don’t say yes. On our domain page you can easily search and see if your domain name is available. If it is, you are free to register it yourself. You don’t need the company to contact you and want to sell on it.
At the moment many people receive emails from DNS Sweden
We’ve noticed that a company called DNS Sweden has started sending out mass emails about this sort of thing in recent weeks. Our support is being contacted by many of you, and we are also seeing it in various communities.
The offer is to subscribe to a variant of your domain name, maybe .com if you have .se for 249 SEK/year for 10 years.
If you want it, you can subscribe to the domain name yourself for half the price instead. It is often a good idea to secure your domain name on the various major top level domains (.com, .se and others) so that no one else takes it and uses it for something else.
