Unfortunately, we occasionally encounter those who try to deceive our customers and others by sending fake emails pretending to come from us. So-called phishing, which we have previously advised on how to avoid.
Lately, we’ve been informed that our customers have been targeted by several new such emails. These are not sent from us at Oderland. If you have received any of them, you can throw them in the trash – do not respond, do not print or do not act at all on them.
Below you will find concrete examples that have occurred.
Of course, we find it sad that there are those who spend their time trying to deceive our customers, and others, in this way. Unfortunately, it’s very common, in many different forms. Being vigilant and critically reviewing mailings is the best way. You can learn more about phishing in our support section.
If you are ever in doubt, you are always welcome to contact us, via email, phone or chat to confirm if the mailing you received is genuine.
You can recognize that it is fake in several ways. Firstly, the post is in partly bad Swedish. The mailing also lacks information that we always include in our mailings. In our real mailings, for example, we have your name and also information about which services the mailing concerns.
Finally, for security reasons, we ask you never to click on a link to update your data with us.
Examples of recent phishing emails
Here are some clear examples of errors to look for in the emails, to try to help you identify their attempts. If you find such an email, you can delete it. Note, however, that these are only a few examples, as the approaches are constantly changing.
- E-mail with the subject “TERMINATION: [your domain name]“
- E-mail with the subject “Vi måste stänga av ditt domännamn“
- E-mail with the subject “Meddelande om förnyelse av domän“
- E-mail with the subject “Förnya domänen manuellt“
- E-mails with the subject “FEL! Automatisk förnyelse av domänen har misslyckats“. The email tells you that the automatic renewal of your domain has unfortunately failed and that
the reason may be that the credit card provided is no longer valid. - E-mail with the subject “Du riskerar att förlora ditt domännamn” (see example below). It describes that your domain name has been suspended despite reminders from us and that you are required to renew now.
- E-mail with the subject “Renew the domain manually” (see example below). Like the “FEL!” email above, it describes that the automatic renewal of your domain has failed, that you need to log in to c-panel to fix it, and that you only have seven days to do so.
- E-mail starts with “Kära kund” or “Hej kund”
- Sender “odarlend”
- Sender “odarland”
